“Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus.” -Heb. 10.19
If you have been born from above, if the Spirit of God bears witness with your spirit that you are a child of God, if you have passed from death to life through faith in Christ, the powers of darkness will do all they can to keep you from boldly approaching the Throne of grace. They will use whatever tool you allow them to keep you from the vital communion that has been opened up to you by Jesus’ work on the cross. If you are given to depression, they will bear down on you with the clouds of hopelessness. If you are self-conscious and man-pleasing, they will inflame fears in your heart of what men are thinking of you. If you are not keeping the lines of forgiveness and mercy open spiritually speaking, they will feverishly seek the increase of bitterness and envy in your soul. If you are playing games with sin and compromise, they will gleefully set common temptations before your eyes.
The saint who is believing actively will possess a holy audacity to break through all of the contradictions and fears, temptations and pulls, so that he may “enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus.” The writer to the Hebrews uses language which is unique and striking. We have boldness to enter the holiest. The holiest place, which is so charged with the presence of God that it would kill a priest if he entered it without a pure heart, and out of which fire proceeded to consume Aaron’s sons in Leviticus, is wide open to those who are authentically enveloped in the Man, Christ Jesus.
You can live there, dear saint. The veil has been violently torn open, and the Way is now yours “by the blood of Jesus.” Are you believing actively in His finished work, or are you looking for the answer in a lesser place?
Enter boldly by the blood the Lamb, who takes away the sin of the world. Enter today, dear soul. He waits for you.
